Where are you located?
We are located in Litchfield County of Connecticut. Awosting is on Bantam Lake and Chinqueka is on Mt. Tom Pond.
New York City and Boston are a two hour drive in either direction. The Atlantic Ocean is an hour south.
Whom do you hire?
Our counselors are expected to establish personal relationships with our campers, participate one-hundred percent in
camper's activities, plan and organize activities with small and large groups, act as a team member of fifty-plus staff,
and be a model of the values and philosophy of our camp. Awosting and Chinqueka employ about 120 counselors seasonally.
All staff are required to have completed one or more years of college or university. The average age of our staff is 21.
We hire staff from all over the United States, Canada and the world.
What are the campers like?
Our campers come from all over the world and from a diversity of backgrounds. Many camper come for two or four
weeks at a time.
What are the dates of employment?
Staff are employed for the entire season. Our season typically runs from the middle of June until the middle of August.
Online training begins in April and continues until camp orientation a week prior to camp.
What is the salary?
Salary depends on position and experience. Our salaries are above the national average.
When do we have time off?
All staff are scheduled for one day off per week. Additionally staff have 3 evenings off each week. We provide
transportation into town a few evenings each week.
Is there a staff lounge?
Yes. There is internet access, access to phones, and the lounge is equipped with 300+ movie collection, pool
table, and exercise equipment.
How do I get to and from camp?
Staff make their own travel arrangements. Depending on where you are from you may receive travel compensation.
Where do staff live?
Almost all of our staff live in cabins with campers. Cabin placement is decided upon during camp orientation.
A cabin holds 6-12 campers and 2-3 staff members. All cabins have running water (sinks & toilets) and electricity.
How do I do my laundry?
You don't. We provide a laundry service one time a week while the campers are at camp. The entire cabin's laundry
goes out together and is cleaned and folded by our laundry service.
What is a typical day like?
A day starts at 7:25 am and lasts until your campers are asleep at 9:00 pm. Each day is made up of 3 morning activity
